Gadgetleak: vivo X100 Ultra Camera Details Revealed

vivo’s highly anticipated X100 Ultra is set to debut officially on Monday, May 13, generating significant buzz with promises of a “professional camera that can also make calls,” as stated by a vivo executive. Today, fresh leaks provide insight into its groundbreaking camera system, positioning it as a potential game-changer in the realm of cameraphones, aptly earning its Thanos codename.

The flagship device will feature a powerful camera array, headlined by a 50 MP Sony Lytia LYT-900 1-inch type sensor for the primary camera, complemented by a 50 MP Sony Lytia LYT-600 ultrawide lens and a 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 selfie camera, boasting 4K@60fps video recording capabilities.

However, the standout feature undoubtedly lies in its 200 MP periscope zoom camera, sporting a Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor, a collaboration between Samsung and vivo. This sensor, the largest ever utilized for a periscope telephoto camera, promises enhanced light sensitivity, thanks to innovative technology developed by vivo, improving upon Samsung’s existing HP3 sensor.

Incorporating fluorite glass, renowned for its exceptional low-dispersion properties, the lens further elevates image quality, a feature previously exclusive to professional cameras. Notably, this material is shared with Sony’s G Master lenses, underscoring the partnership between vivo, Sony, and Zeiss.

On the stabilization front, the telephoto lens sets a new standard, combining optical image stabilization (OIS) with proprietary software algorithms to mitigate shaking effectively.

Beyond its exceptional camera capabilities, the X100 Ultra boasts top-tier specifications, including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, a “2K” Samsung-made AMOLED display, and a robust 5,500 mAh battery supporting 80W wired and 30W wireless charging.

Pricing for the vivo X100 Ultra is expected to start at CNY 6,699 (approximately $928 or €861) for the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with a top-tier variant featuring 16GB RAM and 1TB storage priced at CNY 8,499 ($1,178 or €1,092). While an international launch is on the horizon, it may follow a staggered release, similar to previous models.
